Create a promo code

Make a code such as SPRING10 that customers type when they book in their account, with a limit on uses, dates and group size.

How toUpdated

Create a promo code when you want to give a discount only to the people you share the code with: followers of a campaign, a company's staff, or guests at an exhibition.

Before you start

  • You need permission to manage offers and promo codes.
  • Customers type the code when they book a trip in their customer account, so the customer account must be switched on and the trip open to them in Settings → Customer portal and loyalty. Your team can also apply the code for the customer in New booking.

Steps

  1. Open Offers and press New offer.
  2. Type the Title in English (and the Title in Arabic). Customers see it next to the discount when the code works.
  3. In Discount, choose % or Amount and type the size of the discount.
  4. Type the code in Promo code, for example SPRING10: 3 to 30 letters or numbers (_ and - are allowed). Letters become capitals and spaces are removed as you type.
  5. In Uses at most, type how many bookings may use the code in total, or leave it empty for no limit.
  6. If needed, set Smallest group, a Trip (the code then works only on that trip), Starts and Last day, and Who sees it or Or customers tagged to keep it for some customers.
  7. Turn Show in the customer account off if the offer should not appear in customers' accounts. The card then shows Code only and only people who know the code can use it.
  8. Press Save.
  9. To share the code, press the card's menu (⋮) and Copy the code, then paste it in your message or post.

After you save

  • The card shows the code, its status and Used 0 of 20.
  • In their account, the customer types the code under Promo code when booking and presses Apply. The discount shows in the price before they confirm.
  • When a customer gives the code to your team, it can be typed in Promo code on the last step of New booking. See Create a booking.
  • Each booking made with the code counts one use. When the uses reach the limit, the card shows Used up and the code stops working.

Note

A code works only while its offer is Running. Turning Active off, passing the Last day or reaching Uses at most stops it at once for new bookings.

If something goes wrong

  • Use 3 to 30 letters or numbers for the promo code: the code is too short, too long or has other signs.
  • The promo code SPRING10 is already used by "Spring sale": another offer of your agency has this code, even if it is switched off. Choose another code, or edit that offer.
  • A percent discount is at most 100: lower the Percent off.

What the customer (or your team, in New booking) may see when they type the code:

  • This promo code is not valid: the code is misspelt, or its offer is switched off.
  • This offer is not running now: it is before Starts or after Last day.
  • This offer has been fully used: the uses reached Uses at most.
  • This offer is for another trip: the code is tied to a different Trip.
  • This offer is for another branch: the offer belongs to one branch and the trip to another. An offer of one branch works only on bookings of that branch.
  • This offer is not available for your account: the customer is not in the offer's groups or tags.
  • This offer needs at least 4 travellers: the booking has fewer travellers than Smallest group.
