A booking has no hotel room
The hotel says bookings still need a room, or a booking shows no room number. Find out why and give it a room.
Why it happens
A booking gets beds only from rooms contracted for its trip. It waits when there is no contract yet, when no free room fits the party, or when automatic assignment is off.
What to do
- Is there a contract? Open the trip's Hotels and rooms tab. No hotel rooms contracted yet means you must contract rooms first: see Contract hotel rooms for a trip. When you do, waiting bookings get rooms at once.
- Are there free rooms? On the hotel, the note says No free room is left on their contracts: add rooms first. Press Add rooms and raise the rooms per type. After the release date, the unsold rooms may have gone back to the hotel by themselves: ask the hotel before you add them again. See Change or release a room contract.
- Do the free rooms fit? A party of 3 does not fit in two free doubles on different floors if you expect them together, and a family cannot sleep in a single. The message "… bookings still need a bigger or extra room." means this. Add a bigger room type, or put the booking in rooms by hand.
- Are free rooms on hold or out of service? Automatic assignment skips them. Open the room and press Release the hold or Back in service.
- Is automatic assignment off? Check Settings → Preferences → Give rooms automatically. When off, press Assign everyone waiting yourself.
- Give the room by hand: open a free room, press Put a booking in this room and pick the booking. See Assign rooms and move guests.
