Publish, close, reopen or unpublish a trip
Put a trip on sale, stop new sales, open them again, take a trip back to draft or mark it completed.
A trip's status decides whether it can be sold. A draft is not on sale; a published trip is; a trip closed for sale keeps its bookings but takes no new ones.
The system allows only the moves the trip page offers. A draft can only be published or cancelled. Completed and cancelled are final: the status cannot change again. Only a trip without bookings goes back to draft.
Before you start
- You need permission to manage trips.
- To publish, the trip needs a price above zero: the base price or a price option.
Publish a draft
- Open the trip and press Publish in the header (or More actions ⋮ → Publish).
- Confirm Publish this trip? (It goes on sale straight away.)
- The message Trip is now published appears. The trip shows in New booking and, as it gets close, on Departures.
Stop or restart sales
- Press More actions (⋮) → Close sales and confirm Close sales? No new bookings can be made; existing bookings stay.
- To sell again, press More actions → Reopen sales and confirm. The trip is published again.
A full trip stops selling by itself; you do not need to close it.
Take a trip off sale completely
- Press More actions → Back to draft and confirm Move back to draft?.
- This choice shows only while the trip has no bookings at all.
Mark a trip completed
- Press More actions → Mark completed and confirm Mark as completed?. The trip moves to the past trips.
- You rarely need this: a published trip is marked completed by itself once its return date has passed.
After you change the status
- The status chip changes and the History tab records the new status.
- Published and closed trips appear on the Departures board as their date gets close.
- Customers see a trip in their account only if it is published and open for online booking. See Let customers book a trip online.
If something goes wrong
- Set a price before publishing: give the base price or a price option a value above zero, then publish.
- Back to draft is missing, or you see This trip has bookings, so it cannot go back to draft: the trip has bookings. Close sales instead.
- A trip that is … cannot become …: that move is not allowed, for example a completed or cancelled trip cannot be published again. Refresh the page: a colleague may have changed the status. To run the trip again, use Duplicate to a new date.
