Branch, currency and tax on a trip

Which branch sells a trip, the currency of its prices and its tax rule, and why they cannot change once the trip has bookings.

ConceptUpdated

Every trip belongs to a selling branch, has one price currency and one tax rule. You set them in the trip editor, under Prices. They decide in which currency the customer pays, which payment methods are offered and how tax appears on the invoice.

Selling branch

  • Selling branch shows only when your agency has more than one branch. A new trip starts with your own branch.
  • Changing the branch also sets the price currency to that branch's currency and resets the tax rule.
  • People whose role is limited to some branches see the trips of their branches, and the trips that have no branch.

Price currency

  • Price currency starts with the branch's currency. You can choose another currency from the list, for example a Bahrain branch selling an Umrah package priced in SAR. A hint then says "The branch works in BHD".
  • Every price, deposit and balance of the trip's bookings is in this currency.
  • The system makes sure an exchange rate exists for the currency, so reports in your main currency can convert it. Check the rate in Settings → Currencies.

Tax rule

  • Tax rule empty means The branch’s rule. Choose another of your agency's tax rules when this trip is taxed differently.
  • The rule applies to the trip's lines on bookings and invoices.

Why they lock

Once the trip has bookings, Selling branch and Price currency show Fixed once the trip has bookings and cannot be changed. The bookings were priced and paid in that currency and branch. If you try anyway, the message is "This trip has bookings, so its branch and currency stay as they are".

Tip

Selling the same trip from two branches or in two currencies? Use Duplicate to a new date with the same date, then change the branch or currency on the copy before anyone books it. See Copy a trip to a new date.
